Czech and Slovak American Genealogy Society IL offers you these benefits are:
A "New Member" Packet: As a new member you will receive a packet including information specifically developed to assist your Bohemian, Slovak, Moravian, Silesian or Rusyn genealogical research in the old country, Illinois, and the United States.
Meetings with Information Programs: Quarterly general meetings are being held in convenient central suburban Chicago locations. Each meeting will feature a topic dealing with an aspect of our ethnic genealogical research or related heritage and culture.
In addition to our regular meetings special events such as cemetery tours and trips to research libraries will be developed to acquaint members with the rich resources available for ethnic genealogists in Illinois.
And even if you live too far to personally attend, meeting abstracts and handouts are available on the CSAGSI www.CSAGSI.org Meeting's Page and information is also available in the Koreny.
Research Advice: A major portion of each quarterly meeting is be devoted to helping each other find answers to research problems. In addition the working committees of the society are available to help you in your quest for the story of your ancestors. An extensive Library located in CICERO, IL
Surname Index: A computerized and cross indexed data base is maintained. Surnames, Cities and Villages (North American & European), Churches and Cemeteries listed by members will aid your own quest for your roots.
Society Journal: All members will receive our journal, "KORENY" (Roots), featuring: Helpful articles on researching in Illinois, Europe and other areas. Free research queries for members.
Sharing of resource information Notice of upcoming meetings, lectures, classes, local and national events Profiles of notable figures in our ethnic history Historical and Cultural articles Also, 4 newsletters per year
Research Projects: Participate in group research projects such as indexing cemetery records and fraternal organization membership rolls. Information developed by the society will be available to members in both conventional printed book form and in flexible electronic formats.
Library Collection: The Society has a research collection for its members. Our holdings include research books, maps, and family and church histories. These holdings will be listed periodically in KORENY and on the CSAGSI WWW page. Members may request that materials be brought to meetings for loan from the Cicero, IL library.
An important goal of the society is to collect and preserve published works and to, where practical, make them available thru reprints and serialization in society publications.
